NCC Attends the Annual Skills Canada National Competition

NCC attends Skills Canada May 2022

The annual Skills Canada National Competition was held in Vancouver from May 25 to May 28. The event brought together youth from around the country, who competed in a wide range of skilled trades and technology specialties. As one of Nunavut’s leading development / construction companies, NCC has been a strong supporter of Skills Canada Nunavut. NCC would like to acknowledge the talented Nunavut youth who competed in this amazing event and showcased their skills and proficiencies in a variety of fields. Skills Canada Nunavut had a Post Secondary team who competed in person at the event in Vancouver, as well as a Secondary team who competed virtually from Nunavut. Two members of NCC’s management team, Barb Heming and Gerald Manning, sit on the board of Skills Canada Nunavut and were also present at the competition to support the teams from Nunavut.

Skills Canada Nunavut is a not-for-profit organization whose goal is to assist Nunavut youth in pursuing career opportunities in skilled trades and technologies. Skills Canada Nunavut partners with the territorial and federal governments, schools and community organizations, local businesses and industry professionals and educators in order to promote various available opportunities in the skilled trades and technologies. Through a number of different events, workshops and programs that provide hands-on experiences for Nunavut youth, the organization is helping to develop a skilled workforce in Nunavut.
