September 2022
NCC was proud to be the title sponsor at the 15th Annual Habitat for Humanity Iqaluit Golf Tournament, which took place in Gatineau, Quebec on September 9, 2022.
The annual event, which was not held in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, raises funds for Habitat for Humanity Iqaluit. An affiliate of Habitat for Humanity Canada, Habitat for Humanity Iqaluit is a community-based, non-profit organization, whose goal is to improve housing conditions for people who are gainfully employed but are unable to afford a down payment due to the cost of housing in the North. Through charitable donations from individuals, governments and local business and organizations, as well as volunteer labour, Habitat for Humanity Iqaluit builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of partner families. Habitat homes are sold to partner families with no down payment required and are financed with affordable, no-interest mortgages. This program provides stability and independence for families in the community through affordable homeownership.
NCC supports Habitat for Humanity Iqaluit by assisting with the building and maintenance of Habitat homes, helping with fundraising activities and providing financial support, including by being the title sponsor of this year’s annual golf tournament.
It was a beautiful and sunny day in Gatineau and the golf tournament was well attended by representatives of business who are based in the North or who have extensive operations or business relationships in the North. Many members of NCC’s management team were in attendance, both playing in the tournament and volunteering to assist with the event.
NCC also played a key role in the construction of the 6th Habitat Home in Iqaluit in 2022.
