NCC Development has recently completed work on the Nunavut Arctic College Residence Deep Energy Retrofit Project. The building, which is owned by Qikiqtaaluk Properties Inc. (“QPI”), houses a student residence for the Nunavut Arctic College (“NAC”) and is located in the downtown core of Iqaluit. Prior to being acquired by QPI, the building was operated as a hotel facility. NCC Development was hired as general contractor for a deep energy retrofit of the building to make it more energy efficient. Work completed by NCC Development and its subcontractors included:
- Reinsulating the roof with thicker and higher efficiency insulation
- Installing a new Soprema roofing system
- Removing existing windows and installing new high-efficiency windows
- Installing thicker and higher efficiency insulation on exterior-facing walls
- Installing new exterior cladding
- Installing 3 new heat rate variability units
- Upgrading all interior and exterior lighting to LED
